Elastic Resistance For Rotational Power

Rotational movements are a large part of everyday life for everyone.  Rotation is present at different speeds and activities from reaching across your body to catch something to swinging a bat in baseball. These movements can greatly be enhanced by the progressive resistance nature that elastic bands provide. As the end points of elastic tubing are moved away from one another the tension becomes greater.

Since we are in the heart of baseball season, I felt it only fitting to discuss how this concept can be added to swinging and throwing motions to increase rotational velocity. Whether you are using the Stroops VITL kit or slastix attached to the pelvic harness, resisted and assisted motions can be performed. Accentuating a rotational movement during training can increase intermuscular coordination, increase rotational velocity, train the fast twitch (FT) muscles fibers, create post activation potentiation (PAP)/after effect within the nervous system, lay new fascial architecture, and many more!
